Rental ID: PANASONIC_AU-EVA1-HIRE
Panny Hire are back to our roots with the newly acclaimed camera from Panasonic, the AU-EVA1 or EVA1 for short, features a 5.7K sensor that down-samples or ‘super-samples’ the 5.7K image down to a super sharp and very crisp 4K image, no discernible noise or artifacting, the image is very pleasing.
The EVA1 features a Dual Native ISO technology rather than adding gain, the standard native ISO is 800 (standard sensitivity) but that can be switched to 2500 ISO (high sensitivity) when working in dark environments.
An EF lens mount is the only way to go on the Panasonic AU-EVA1, with a motorised ND filter wheel sat just behind the EF mount which offers 2, 4 and 6 stops of ND filtration.
The EVA-1 captures 10-bit images with a 4:2:2 chroma subsampling to industry standard SD cards. The Panasonic developed V-Log and V-Gamut colour science enables the capture of a wide latitude / dynamic range, the V-Log has exposure curve characteristics that are reminiscent of negative film, lovely! Check out the high-speed frame rates on option too, 240 FPS at HD!
10-bit 4:2:2:
4K (4096 x 2160) @ 60 FPS
UHD (3840 x 2160) @ 60 FPS
2K (2048 x 1080) @ 120 FPS
HD (1920 x 1080) @ 240 FPS
HD (1280 x 720) @ 240 FPS
Electronic Image Stabilisation? It is featured in-camera on the EVA-1, so if the lenses you are using don’t have IS then you’re in luck, as the EVA-1 is equipped with EIS (another benefit of oversampling at the sensor).
The Panasonic EVA-1 is tooled-up with plenty of video production tools, as you would expect, that include peaking, expand/image zoom, waveform, zebras, spot meter and focus squares (as originally found on the Varicam product line, nice!)
